Over the past several months, millions of American vehicles have been affected by warnings and recalls stemming from accidents, injuries, and deaths that were caused by defective equipment or parts. The legal staff at Daniel Stark Injury Lawyers would like to remind citizens that these vehicles with car product liability concerns may not be the only vehicles putting the safety of motorists and passengers at risk though.
Reports from Click 2 Houston News indicate the mother of a 17-year-old girl who was killed as the result of a bus accident earlier this year has filed a lawsuit against the manufacturer of the vehicle. She claims the design of the seatbelt on the bus was responsible for the death of her daughter.
Court documents show the bus that was involved in the fatal accident is only equipped with lap belts for passengers. The lawsuit claims bus manufacturers have known for years that three-point harness seatbelts are safer than lap belts, yet they continued to equip their vehicles with the inferior belts.
The mother of the victim is seeking $1 million in damages for her loss.
At Daniel Stark Injury Lawyers, the Texas wrongful death lawyers recognize the difficulties that can accompany the unexpected death of a loved one. We would like to send our thoughts to the family of the young girl who was killed and are hopeful a resolution to the case will bring peace and closure for all who are involved.
