A Texas Construction Accident that occurred recently was responsible for leaving four workers injured. Reports indicate the incident occurred on the morning of Friday, March 22, at a construction site in the town of Sulphur Springs, Texas.
According to The Republic, the men were part of a crew hired to complete the framework on a one-story structure. The men had just completed getting the trusses and walls of the building in place when the structure suddenly collapsed on top of them.
Each of the four men were able to free themselves from the debris before rescue crews arrived, but were transported to a local trauma center by ambulance for further examination upon paramedic’s arrival at the scene. One of the men pinned under the wood and scaffolding suffered a back injury and must now wear a brace and have further testing conducted.
Officials with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration are on the scene to investigate the cause of the accident and if it could have been prevented.
Accidents like these are not uncommon, especially in the construction industry, considering the Bureau of Labor Statistics found that last year, a total of 15 percent of all workplace fatalities were caused by contact with objects or equipment on a jobsite.
