As summer settles in, you can expect to see a rise in the number of dog bites that occur. In fact, our Texas dog bite lawyers at Daniel Stark Injury Lawyers explain a canine in Lufkin, Texas, recently attacked a young girl and police officer that was responding to the scene to offer assistance to the victim.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 30, along James Avenue. The victim was taking the garbage out when a neighbor’s dog suddenly came around the corner of the victim’s home and attacked. The victim suffered a bite to the ankle.
According to an article from KLTV 7 News, police were called to the scene and when an officer responded, the dog attacked him as well. The officer was bitten in the hand and was able to fight the dog off. He was treated at a local hospital and released.
Witnesses say the animal’s owner was present during both attacks and did little to restrain the animal. The dog is currently being held under a 10-day quarantine and the owner will be ticketed for having a dog at large.
At Daniel Stark Injury Lawyers, we recognize the serious damage and bodily harm that can be inflicted by a dog bite injury. That’s why our Texas personal injury lawyers would like to wish both victims who were involved in this recent attack a full and speedy recovery from their injuries.
