The oil industry is booming across Texas, but the growth has also brought on a growing number of motor vehicle collisions in the areas where drilling is taking place. In fact, reports from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) show that last year alone, there were 3,340 accidents reported in the Eagle Ford Shale region of the Brazos Valley.

The Texas Car Accident Lawyers with Daniel Stark Injury Lawyers explain state officials are working to reduce the number of accidents in work zones by implementing several new programs. One of the campaigns currently receiving heavy media attention is the “Be Safe. Drive Smart” program.

Reports from KBTX 3 News stated one of the staples of the campaign is education. Officials are hoping to achieve this goal through the release of a public service announcement offering safety tips to motorists traveling through drilling work zones.

Some of those tips include:

  • Do not closely follow tractor-trailers.
  • Come to a complete stop and look twice in both directions at stop signs.
  • Eliminate distractions, like cellphones, when driving.
  • Fasten your seatbelt.
  • Slow down.

The Texas Personal Injury Lawyers with Daniel Stark Injury Lawyers recognize the dangers driving in work zones can pose and are hopeful these tips help prevent future accidents.
