GM Ignition Recall
General Motors has come under heavy public scrutiny in recent months because of their failure to address an issue with the ignition switch in millions of vehicles. Reports indicate keys of vehicles equipped with the faulty switch can turn to the “off” position while driving. This can lead to loss of vehicle control and cause the airbags not to deploy. A massive GM ignition recall was launched in response to the problem.
Faulty Airbags
A Japanese company that manufactures vehicle airbags is also facing scrutiny after reports surfaced of American motorists killed by defective airbags. According to madison.com, the most recent fatality was a 35-year-old man in Spring, Texas. After his 2002 Honda Accord crashed, an autopsy showed a shard of metal from the airbag was hurled in the man’s direction, striking him in the neck.
