These coming autumn months are chock-full of patriotic milestones, American pride, and military anniversaries. From Patriot Day on September 11th, the birthdays of our Air Force, Navy, and USMC, and rounding out with Veterans Day in November, this fall season reminds us afresh of our nation’s history, our unity, and the proud heritage of our Armed Forces. It is also an incredible opportunity to thank those who selflessly serve our great nation, and so it is our distinct pleasure to announce the Daniel Stark Fall Charity: the Ft. Hood Fisher House.
Nestled within the security of Ft Hood army post, the Fisher House serves both active duty and veteran soldiers and their families by providing them a wonderful place to stay – at no cost whatsoever – during times of medical crisis. Facilitating the comforts of home during challenging times, the Ft. Hood Fisher House is located less than a mile from Darnell Medical Center, and is furnished with private rooms, baths, and lovely communal spaces.
In addition to providing lodging, the Ft Hood Fisher House also coordinates donated frequent flyer miles and hotel points, allowing families to travel with ease to see their injured service member. Since its establishment in 1990, this incredible foundation has served over 305,000 families nationwide, saving them an estimated $360 million in lodging and transportation fees. The Fisher House located at Ft Hood is a truly remarkable part of our Killeen, military, and Texas communities, and has helped touch innumerable lives.
Out of the 50+ employees at Daniel Stark, almost a quarter of us have close ties to the military: Army and Air Force brats, siblings, cousins, veteran spouses, parents of deployed soldiers, the list goes on. I am honored to count myself among those ranks, as the proud daughter of an active duty career military man. This firm has been an incredible support to us all during times of deployments, the holidays apart, etc., and to see them now support the Fisher House – an organization dedicated to supporting the military family – is a truly beautiful thing.
