Jerrell earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas A&M University. He served in leadership positions in the Corps of Cadets, Beta Upsilon Chi, and Sigma Iota Epsilon.
After graduation, Jerrell started a career in law enforcement, serving as a police officer for the Mesquite Police Department. As a Patrol Officer, Jerrell responded to all forms of calls for service, including motor vehicle crashes, intoxicated drivers, domestic assaults, robberies in progress, burglaries, and more.
Jerrell moved his family from Dallas to Houston to attend the University of Houston Law Center, where he received his Juris Doctor in 2011. While in law school, Jerrell became a Reserve Deputy with Precinct Four Constable’s Office, and served as a Cybercrime Investigator in the High Tech Crimes Unit. Jerrell was attached to the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force headed up by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office – Child Exploitation Section (where he also served an as intern). Jerrell competed in the John Black Moot Court, the Hippard Mock Trial, and the Jeffrey Abrams Mediator competitions.
Jerrell served as an intern with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and tried his first case to a jury while he was a third year law student. After graduating, Jerrell took a position with the Collin County District Attorney’s Office as a post-graduate fellow, where he continued to try cases and gain valuable courtroom experience.
Jerrell took a position as an Associate Attorney for a firm in Dallas, where he began his civil litigation career in personal injury.
Jerrell is licensed to practice in Texas state courts. He is also admitted to practice before federal district courts in the United States Northern District of Texas and Southern District of Texas.
